Botox is a purified protein that has the ability to relax muscles into which it is injected. This relaxation may be partial or complete, depending on the amount of Botox used and on the relative strength of the muscles in the target area. The relaxation by Botox is temporary and will gradually fade as the treated muscle will gradually regain its movement over time.
There are two types of wrinkles on the face: static wrinkles or dynamic wrinkles. Static wrinkles are present even when the face is at rest without expression. Dynamic wrinkles are those which appear or become significantly more apparent with facial expression. Botox is ideal for treatment of dynamic wrinkles of the face.
It is most commonly used to treat the lines between our eyebrows (frown lines), eyes (crow’s feet) and the horizontal lines of the forehead.
It can also be used for neckbands, wide muscular jaws and certain lip lines.
