Sandy is the latest member of the Dermatology Matters Team. In 2017, Sandy finished a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Therapy and Training at DCU. Recently, Sandy completed a Master’s degree in Physician Associate (PA) Studies from the Royal College of Surgeons, Ireland. PAs are healthcare professionals that study the medical model and aid in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients under the supervision of a consultant. Sandy has completed over 1,600 hours of clinical training in a number of hospitals including Beaumont Hospital, the Bon Secours Hospital Glasnevin and UPMC Clane. As part of her Master’s degree, Sandy completed a dissertation which explored how waiting times could be reduced for new patients requiring a dermatology appointment. Upon completion of the PA program, Sandy immediately began working as a PA in Dermatology, working alongside Dr Condon and the team. Sandy has a keen interest in medical dermatology particularly acne, rosacea and early detection and prevention of skin cancers and melanomas. She strongly believes in preventative medicine and looks forward to raising awareness with her patients about the importance of skincare and how effectively we can look after our skin both in the clinic and at home.
